On the west coast, we call rockfish...well...rockfish. On the east coast and other parts, people might know this wide range of species (there are over 30 Alaska rockfish species) as "sea bass" or rock cod or snapper. Rockfish is neither a bass, cod or snapper, but is a classic example of an underrated seafood item. If you're on a budget and are looking for a tasty way to get all the health benefits of seafood, rockfish is a great entry point. In addition, we find that people that don't like seafood appreciate rockfish for its steak-like texture and mild, sweet flavor. Whatever you call it, we highly recommend our Alaska Gold Rockfish for fish tacos and cajun recipes. In all honesty, we are also of the opinion that our rockfish makes the best fish and chips.

Rockfish are prized in Alaska for their mild, sweet taste and versatility. Its firm texture lends rockfish to be perfect on the grill. We like it with a blackening seasoning and served with rice and vegetable dishes. With 19 grams of protein in a 3-ounce serving, rockfish is a lean, high quality protein and a good source of vitamin A, vitamin B and selenium.

Glistening white, these rockfish fillets are lean and delicious. This Alaska Rockfish Tacos Recipe is where you'll want to start.
