The F/V Shari Ann is a boat frequently seen on our docks and is captained by Frederick Phillips. Some of these images include close-ups of Fred removing and documenting tags for the NOAA Fisheries Sablefish Tagging Program, which tracks movement, growth and abundance of Alaskan sablefish. This program helps documents the proliferation of sablefish throughout the Gulf of Alask, Bering Sea, and Aleutians to help scientists determine a healty quota for harvest to keep the sablefish fishery sustainable.
